Eleanor Plantagenet (or Eleanor of England) (Born in Normandy 1160 - Died in the Monasterio de las Huelgas, Burgos, 1214) Princess of England and Queen of Castile, by her marriage to King Alfonso VIII of Castile, was the daughter of King Henry II of England and his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine. Mother was, among others, of the kings Henry I of Castile and Berengaria of Castile.
Daughter of King Henry II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine, his paternal grandparents were Geoffrey V of Anjou and his wife Matilda of England, daughter of King Henry I of England. By maternal grandparents were William X of Poitiers and Eleanor of Chatellerault, Duchess of Aquitaine. She had several siblings, including kings: Richard the Lionheart and John Lackland, monarchs of England.
Born in 1160 and, with 10 years, held his wedding in 1170 in the city of Tarazona with Alfonso VIII of Castile. Before marriage, her parents, the kings of England, granted her the duchy of Aquitaine, a dowry.
