María Díaz de Vivar

(1080 - 1105) was Countess of Barcelona.

She was the daughter of Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar, called "El Cid" and Jimena of Oviedo.

She married in first nuptials (1098) with Prince Peter of Aragon. From this union no children were born.

She later married, remarried, with the Count of Barcelona (Ramon Berenguer III), receiving as dowry Tison famous Sword, Sword of the first Counts of Barcelona that was lost in the Battle of Tébar. From this union were born two daughters:

- María de Barcelona. Countess of Besalu.
- Jimena of Barcelona. Countess of Osona, Besalu and Foix.
