Anne Neville. Queen Anne of England

Anne Neville was born in Warwick Castle, in 1456, the second daughter of Richard Neville, Earl of Salisbury and Anne Beauchamp, Countess of Warwick. She and her older sister, Elizabeth, spent his childhood in Middleham Castle, owned by her father. They both had as playmates for children under Richard, Duke of York, George and Richard. Both would play important roles in the lives of both sisters.

Her father agreed to the age of 14 with Edward, Prince of Wales, only son of King Edward VI of England. Anne's father, dissatisfied with the ingratitude of King Edward IV, decided to switch sides and support the Lancaster, allying with Queen Margaret of Anjou. Despite this, the queen had reservations about Neville loyalty due in part to the marriage of Warwick's eldest daughter, Elizabeth, George Duke of Clarence, brother of Edward IV, held on July 11, 1469 in Calais It is not certain that between Anna and Edward were to be a formal ceremony of marriage, and if there never was consummated. The truth is that the wedding ceremony or a formal commitment, the legal equivalent of marriage, was held at the Chateau d'Amboise, December 13, 1470.

The Earl of Warwick, sent to England by Queen Margaret to meet Edward IV, found the defeat and death at the Battle of Barnet, April 14, 1471. Ana, entretando, returned to England with her husband and her mother, being then fatherless. With the death of her husband in the battle of Tewkesbury (May 4, 1471), Anne met a widow and turned into an object of the dispute between members of the House of York. An unconfirmed legend speaks of the future Richard III met Ana working as a maid in London. The truth is that Ricardo had had a deep affection for Anne from childhood, but also longed for a huge portion of states of the Neville-most of them belonging to his mother, Anne Beauchamp.

The marriage between Anne and then Richard, Duke of Gloucester, was held atWestminster Abbey in 1472. The couple established their home in Middleham Castle.Richard had been appointed Governor of the North by his brother the king. The following year, was born the only child of the marriage, Eduardo. Anne's health was never good.Probably she had tuberculosis.

King Edward IV died April 9, 1483, succeeded to the English throne his son Edward V.But, but his uncle Richard accused the king and his illegitimate brother (June 25, 1483)and becomes King Richard III.

Anne was crowned queen and her husband (July 6, 1483) and his son becomes Princeof Wales (August 24, 1483). Unfortunately, little Edward died in Middleham on April 9, 1484in the absence of their parents. To relieve his immense pain, Ana adopts a son to his nephew Edward, Earl of Warwickthe son of his sister Isabel and George ofClarence. Likely to fold to the desire of his wife, Richard recognizes the small as his heir.

She died, probably of tuberculosis, at the Palace of Westminster, in 1485, at age 28.She was buried in Westminster AbbeyThe king was deeply grieved at the death of his wife.
