Jane Seymour (1509 - 1537) was the third wife of Henry VIII of England, and mother of the future Edward VI, died 12 days aftergiving birth.
Jane was the fourth of 9 children of the marriage between JohnSeymour of Wiltshire and Margery Wentworth. After serving as maid of honor to Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn, both wives of Henry VIII of England, Jane attracted the interest of the king.
Unlike the late Queen, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour had no sympathy with Protestant religious ideas. The king's desire to marry her false accusations accelerated adultery against Anne
Jane and Henry were married on May 30, 1536 at the Palace ofYork, just 11 days after the execution of Anne
Jane Seymour became pregnant in 1537. Pregnancy awakened in her the sin of gluttony with quail eggs. The king ordered to bring them from Calais and Flanders. She gained weight and had to fixterribly all her dresses. Joan gave birth to a son, the future EdwardVI (Prince of Wales and Duke of Cornwall), the future King of England and Ireland.
Contracted puerperal fever and died 12 days later
